Now that the lockdown has been extended for another week in NSW and it’s being on and off in other states of Australia and the rest of the world, we would like to remind everyone that we are in this together and that YOUR mental health is super important to me, to us and especially to YOU.

Here is a reminder of things you can do to take care of your mental health and wellbeing recommended by the Department of Health of the Australian Government :

  1. Look after your Physical Health
Exercising and eating well help us stay physically and mentally healthy
  2. Stay Connected
Keep in touch with family and friends while practicing physical distancing through video chats, phone calls, online groups. Schedule a Trivia video call with family. It’s so much fun!
  3. Develop New Routines
Try to create new routines as a family to help separate “work and school time” and “family time”.
  4. Take breaks
Plan your breaks and use them to do something that makes you feel calm and happy. Disconnect from the virtual world for just a bit. It’s beneficial to your overall wellbeing.
  5. Reach out to others
Give your support to people who are in a more vulnerable position- they may be older, live on their own or have a chronic medical condition, or simply live in a challenging situation.
  6. Seek Support
It’s normal to have ups and downs, and it is important to talk about how you’re feeling with family and friends. In times like these, they are likely experiencing similar feelings.

Here is the importance of Mental Health in the Security Industry from our previous blog post.

But remember there are organizations that are here to help :

1.Head to Health – https://www.headtohealth.gov.au/covid-19-support/covid-19-support

2.Beyond Blue- https://coronavirus.beyondblue.org.au/

Stay safe and take care during this time. You are not alone.
